Skills for intense feelings, hard moments, and everything in between.
Teen DBT Skills Group in Tulsa, OK
Being a teenager is messy.
Sometimes life for teens can feel like a lot. They are dealing with intense emotions, changing friendships, family tension, school pressure all while trying to figure out who they are in this world & everyone seems to have an opinion about what they should do.
Sometimes teens need more than advice, they need a place to feel connected.
The skills behind DBT
Learn what to do when emotions get big
DBT is an evidence-based skills approach that helps teens navigate emotions, relationships, stress, and difficult moments. These practical skills give teens tools they can practice and use in real life, in real time.
Through mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, teens learn to better understand what they're feeling, handle hard moments, and have more choices in what they do next.
Mindfulness
Noticing what is happening without immediately reacting to it.
Distress Tolerance
Getting through difficult moments without making them harder.
Over 8 weeks we focus on:
Emotional Regulation
Better understand emotions and build skills for managing them.
Interpersonal Effectiveness
Learning to communicate, set boundaries, navigate conflict, and strengthen relationships.
Part of the village
This group can support teens who are in comprehensive DBT, other types of therapy (TF-CBT, CBT, ACT, etc), teens who are not currently in therapy, or teens who simply need a place to learn and practice new skills. Skills group is one more piece of the village that can support your teen as they navigate the messiness of life.

FOR PARENTS:
Maybe your teen is overwhelmed, struggling with emotions, getting stuck in conflict, or having a hard time finding healthy ways to cope. This group gives them a place to build practical skills without making therapy about fixing them.
FOR THERAPISTS:
Teen DBT skills can complement individual therapy, including approaches that aren't DBT. It can be a referral option for teens who would benefit from additional skills practice alongside their existing treatment.
