Child Therapy for the Big Feelings

There are moments when your child's behavior leaves you wondering, What is going on? What do they need from me? Am I handling this the best way? Why did I say/do that?

Sometimes children don't have the words for what they're feeling, and sometimes the big feelings come out as meltdowns, withdrawal, clinginess, anger, anxiety.

Child therapy can be a place to slow things down, make sense of what's underneath, and find new ways to connect.

Because supporting your child doesn't mean having all the answers. Sometimes you just need support without judgment, a little space to breathe, and someone to help you find your way forward together.

Play is one of the main ways children naturally communicate, explore, and make sense of their world. We use play to build connection, practice new skills, and work through big feelings.

Play

Music & Movement

Sometimes children need to move before they can talk. We use music & movement to support connection, regulation, and emotional expression.

Talking & Stories

As children grow, talking and storytelling can become powerful tools for understanding. We use conversations, books, and stories to help children name feelings, explore experiences, and practice new ways of responding.

Art gives children another way to express what can be hard to put into words. Drawing, creating, and imagining can help children explore emotions, build confidence, and make sense of their experience.

Connection starts with you

Sometimes the best way to help your child is finding ways for the whole family to slow down, understand what's happening, and find new ways to connect.

My approach draws from Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Circle of Security. I bring these approaches together based on your child's developmental stage, needs, and the relationships around them.

Depending on what your family needs, therapy may include time with your child, time with you, or time together. We might work on emotional regulation, strengthen attachment, make sense of big experiences, or practice responding to difficult moments in new ways.

EVIDENCE-BASED APPROACHES + RELATIONSHIP-CENTERED + TAILORED TO YOUR FAMILY NEEDS

Ready to start connecting?

You don't have to know exactly what your child needs before reaching out. We can start with what you're noticing, what feels hard, and what you hope could be different.
